Dappled light dances over her tired wings as she rests on the cap of a fresh toadstool. She didn't find her mate this year and has flown the long midsummer nights alone. As I watch her from afar, she seems peaceful, hopeful but fragile. She flutters her tail as the frosty November winds whip through the branches of the old forest, reminding her that she's been on this earth much longer than she should have. But on this toadstool she will rest. She will wait an eternity for her mate to find her.
I was whisked of to an enchanted place whilst I sat sewing this luna and her toadstool. She's the smallest moth I've made to date at 10cm wide and she will be trapped in her glass dome for a lifetime.
